Were you mis-sold a business lease?
You’re not alone.

LeaseMisSelling is an independent investigation into the way some business finance agreements have been introduced and sold to UK SMEs.

We are gathering evidence from businesses that entered into lease or finance agreements alongside promises from suppliers or introducers that were not reflected in the finance agreement itself.

The pattern we are investigating

Different businesses. Different suppliers. Different finance companies.

But potentially the same underlying pattern.

The Deal

A supplier offers equipment as part of a wider commercial package, often including promised savings, rebates, contract buy-outs or other financial benefits.

The Lease

The equipment is placed into a separate finance agreement, which may be presented or understood as simply the funding mechanism behind the overall deal.

The Payment

The finance company pays the supplier for the equipment, while the business takes on a separate, long-term obligation to make the lease payments.

The Fallout

If the supplier stops honouring its promises, disputes what was agreed or ceases trading, the lease may continue and the business can still be pursued for payment.
